Mitchell Cotts is a global logistics company that provides services such as warehousing, packing, transport and distribution to a wide variety of clients. Their airfreight division is currently stationed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya, which is considered the regional airfreight hub.
In order to meet international requirements and to enable the operators to cope with the fast increase in cargo volume at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Mitchell Cotts considered the construction of a modern state-of-the-art 8 500 square metre, semi-automated warehouse facility with an ultimate capacity of 150 000 tonnes per annum.
Mitchell Cotts currently handles approximately 70 000 tonnes of cargo per annum, and therefore the design had to allow continuous expansion as demand for more capacity increased. The design also had to make provision for both dry and perishable cargo products, and the storage of frozen goods.
