The Fondation D’Appui Pour Le Developpement et L’Epanouissement de la Femme Active Dans le Monde (FADEFEM), which loosely translates to ‘Foundation for Support of Development and Improvement of the Active Woman in the World’, is a public utility organisation. The organisation was founded in 2001 by Mrs Nkubiri, a reputable entrepreneur and business woman with a social conscience. Mrs Nkubiri also assists women in securing microfinancing for activities that will enable them to earn a livelihood.
FADEFEM owns a number of properties in Lubumbashi, the second largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. FADEFEM wished to develop five of these properties, making them available to the public for purchasing and renting.
