Bojanala Green Building

Rustenburg, South Africa

Bojanala Platinum District Municipality is a Category C municipality situated in the North West Province. It is one of four district municipalities in the province and comprises the five local municipalities: Kgetlengrivier, Madibeng, Moses Kotone, Moretele, and Rustenburg.

Bojanala District Municipality required an architect for the design and construction supervision of their head office building. The design had to provide the municipality with dedicated, integrated, and purpose-made spaces. The design had to allow the municipality’s administrative and legislative organs the space to expand and thrive within a work-conducive and environmentally-friendly building. The design of the building also needed to establish a strong identity for the municipality, within the region and on the site itself, where future development is envisaged.

The services required included the production of a 3D model or concept design, general construction materials and a site development plan.

The total building construction area was 7 245 m2 and consisted of:

  • Offices (3 020 m2)
  • Ablutions and kitchens (250 m2)
  • Chambers, canteen and foyer (800 m2)
  • Boardrooms and passages (500 m2)
  • Undercover parking (500 m2)
  • Store room and other spaces (930 m2).
